Bronze Casting
This four-day hands-on workshop will introduce both the new sculptor and the
experienced artist to the process of moving from a clay or wax sculpture model
to a finished bronze. The workshop will cover rubber and plaster mold-making;
wax-chasing and working directly in wax; ceramic shell-investing; and a final
day of bronze-casting. The participants will have the opportunity to learn
each of these processes. Also, if they choose to complete these processes
on their own time (between the workshops), they may have one of their own
pieces cast. Kent Smith has over thirty years of sculptural experience that
includes having a foundry as a key element of his studio. The workshop will
be held in the instructor’s studio located above Evergreen on Squaw
Pass. Materials fee: TBD (If the student chooses to work on his/her own sculptures,
the fee will include the cost of the materials used in those projects.)
