Instructors for 2008 Summer Art Classes:

Mud Slammers
Clay is one of the oldest art forms and it has many uses but did you know one of the big uses was music? In this class we will investigate how clay can make rhythm and melody. Students can make small drums, shakers, bells, chimes, whistles, flutes and more. If students want a more practical use for clay they will have the option to make containers with lids in different styles and shapes. They could also create purely sculptural artwork connected to pedestals. The clay will be decorated in a variety of colors and textures with either paint or colored slip. There will be time for students to make on average one project a day. More or less projects made depends on the amount of clay already used and time spent each day on projects.
